<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Mallorca has been quietly growing as a digital nomad destination, and with that, a handful of coliving options have started popping up. Some colivings in Mallorca are closer to Palma city, some lean more into the coworking-first setup, some cater to larger groups. They all have their thing, and depending on what you&#8217;re after, different places will suit different people.</p>

<h5 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>My Pick for Rural Vibes:</strong> <strong><a class="thirstylink" title="Nomadico in Búger" href="https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/recommends/nomadico-in-buger/" data-shortcode="true">Nomadico in Búger</a></strong>.</h5>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There are very few colivings in Mallorca that truly offer an authentic Mediterranean lifestyle. In my opinion, this is something that may slowly disappear. As Mallorca becomes more popular, many spaces will adapt to a broader audience. That often means more polished experiences, but less soul. This is exactly why <a class="thirstylink" title="Nomadico in Búger" href="https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/recommends/nomadico-in-buger/" data-shortcode="true">Nomadico in Búger</a> stands out. It is the kind of immersive experience that is becoming harder to find. If you are looking for something truly special, this is one of the few colivings in Mallorca where you can still find it.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Búger is a tiny village in the north of the island. It is the kind of place where there&#8217;s a bakery world-famous for its ensaïmada and not much else going on, which is honestly the whole point to be able to BREATHE IN PEACE. From Búger you&#8217;re about 20 minutes from Alcúdia and the beach, just under 30 from Palma. The natural reserve Fonts Ufanes and the Puig de Santa Magdalena mountain are right there. I swear you can start hikes directly from the house. For water stuff, Alcúdia has kitesurfing and Port de Pollença has kayaking (you can spot dolphins and whales in wintertime on the north coast!). You&#8217;ll want a <a href="https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/Alquicoche">car </a>or scooter to really explore freely, but once you have that sorted, the whole island opens up on weekends.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The <a class="thirstylink" title="Nomadico in Búger" href="https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/recommends/nomadico-in-buger/" data-shortcode="true">Nomadico </a>home there is run in partnership with Esteve and Ana, a local couple who own the property and the surrounding farmland. There&#8217;s a veggie garden, animals, essential oils being made in the background. It&#8217;s not a hotel dressed up as a coliving. It&#8217;s an old Mallorcan village house with 4 private rooms and some shared options, which leads to the best trait of this coliving: <strong>the community truly feels tight</strong>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There&#8217;s a community manager living on-site who organises hikes, dinners and day trips but it never feels forced. The vibe <a class="thirstylink" title="Nomadico in Búger" href="https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/recommends/nomadico-in-buger/" data-shortcode="true">Nomadico </a>describes is &#8220;grounded, familiar, nature,&#8221; and from everything I&#8217;ve seen and heard, that holds up. Evenings tend to turn into long dinners, someone usually pulls out a guitar at some point, and the kind of conversations you actually remember tend to happen here. It attracts people who are done with the hustle aesthetic and want to actually enjoy where they are while still getting their work done.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>The work setup is solid</strong>. Right next door there&#8217;s a separate building used exclusively as a coworking for guests. Fiber optic wifi, proper tables, comfortable chairs, AC for the warmer months. Every room also has a desk for calls or focus work, and the wifi covers the garden too which if you&#8217;ve ever tried working outside in good weather, you know is a non-negotiable.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>→ Check availability and rooms on <a class="thirstylink" title="Nomadico in Búger" href="https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/recommends/nomadico-in-buger/" data-shortcode="true">Nomadico&#8217;s website</a>.</strong></p>

<h5 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>My Pick for City Vibes: Palma Coliving &amp; Suiters Coliving.</strong></h5>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Among the best colivings in Mallorca ,<a href="https://palmacoliving.co/locations-mallorca/" data-type="link" data-id="https://palmacoliving.co/locations-mallorca/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Palma Coliving</a> stands out for its two different locations with distinct vibes. One is in Son Armadans, a trendy neighborhood where more and more people are looking to invest in real estate. It used to be home to Palma’s bourgeoisie, and it still feels safe, residential, and slightly more refined. You are close to the city center, but without the noise and constant movement. The second location is in Gomila, which has a more alternative and creative atmosphere. It is a bit further from the center, but still easy to reach by bike or public transport. If you are looking for something with more character and a less polished feel, this one might suit you better.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Suiters Coliving is an upcoming addition to the colivings in Mallorca scene. Suiters Coliving is still under construction and aims for digital nomads and entrepreneurs who are doing well financially and want a more premium experience. And honestly, do not let the laid-back, slightly hippie vibe of the island fool you. Mallorca attracts SERIOUS money. Suiters Coliving is likely to become the go-to option for those who want a relaxed lifestyle while building high-level connections and meaningful relationships.</p>

<h5 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>My Pick for Beach Vibes: Bedndesk Coliving</strong></h5>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Among the most laid-back colivings in Mallorca, <a href="https://www.bedndesk.com/" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.bedndesk.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bedndesk Coliving</a> is a great option if your priority is being close to the beach. Located in s&#8217;Arenal, near Palma, it is ideal for those who want to start the day by the sea, cycle into downtown when they feel like it, and enjoy the nightlife in the area. That said, this part of the island is more touristic and budget-oriented, with a lively party scene. It may not be the most polished area, but if you are looking for sun, social energy, and easy beach access, it can be a fun and practical choice.</p>

<p class="has-theme-palette-7-background-color has-background wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Cala en Gossalba isn’t for everyone — and that’s exactly what makes it special</strong>.<br>If you’re looking for comfort, there are hundreds of easier beaches in Mallorca. But if you crave authenticity, wild nature,<strong> </strong>and that rare feeling of discovery, this hidden gem among the beaches in north of Mallorca is worth every drop of sweat. It’s a <strong>perfect spot for hikers</strong> who love the reward of finding a wild beach after a challenging walk. It’s also a<strong> favourite among local sailors</strong>: the seabed is safe and easy to anchor, making it an ideal place if you rent a boat and want to enjoy a quiet, almost private beach in north of Mallorca.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">An Authentic Corner on the North Coast of Mallorca</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There are places that make you reconnect with the world. <strong>Cala en Gossalba</strong>, hidden within the Bay of Pollença, is one of those <strong>beaches in north of Mallorca</strong> that has managed to keep its wild charm intact.<br>You won’t find beach bars, sunbeds, or easy parking — only rock, sea, and silence. Getting there isn’t easy, but that’s exactly what makes it so special.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-kadence-image kb-image202_7fbe22-90 size-full"><img data-dominant-color="5d6758" data-has-transparency="false" style="--dominant-color: #5d6758;" decoding="async" width="1000" height="500" src="https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/CALA-2.webp" alt="" class="kb-img wp-image-205 not-transparent" srcset="https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/CALA-2.webp 1000w, https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/CALA-2-300x150.webp 300w, https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/CALA-2-768x384.webp 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">The path to one of the wildest beaches in north of Mallorca</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Let’s be honest: reaching Gossalba is a real hike.<br>The first time I went, I gathered my courage (and a good water bottle) to tackle the <strong>200 metres of elevation</strong> and <strong>1.3 km of rocky trail</strong> that separate you from paradise. Halfway down, walking through the pine forest under the hot sun, I met a couple climbing up, out of breath. They asked if it was worth it.<br>I smiled and said: “You’ll tell me on the way back.”</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The trail begins from the <strong>Formentor Lighthouse road</strong> (<em>carretera del faro de Formentor</em>), and you can park near <strong>Kilometre Point 15</strong>. From there, the path follows a dry streambed through pine trees that smell of resin and salt. It’s steep, uneven, and definitely not for flip-flops. But that effort is what keeps <strong>Cala en Gossalba</strong>, one of the most untouched <strong>beaches in north of Mallorca</strong>, safe from mass tourism.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Two Hidden Coves in One North Mallorca Paradise</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When you finally arrive, you realise every step was worth it.<br><strong>Cala en Gossalba</strong> is actually made up of <strong>two small coves</strong>, separated by a rocky ridge. There’s no fine sand — only pebbles and gravel — but the water is so clear it feels like the stones are floating.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The cliffs of <strong>Les Butzes</strong>, rising up to 158 metres, create a natural amphitheatre that makes you feel small and privileged at the same time. The pine trees reach almost to the shore, offering pockets of shade where you can rest before heading back.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-kadence-image kb-image202_3fbe4e-3d size-medium_large"><img data-dominant-color="515a63" data-has-transparency="false" style="--dominant-color: #515a63;" decoding="async" width="768" height="512" src="https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/carrusel-2-768x512.webp" alt="" class="kb-img wp-image-206 not-transparent" srcset="https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/carrusel-2-768x512.webp 768w, https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/carrusel-2-300x200.webp 300w, https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/carrusel-2-1024x682.webp 1024w, https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/carrusel-2-1536x1024.webp 1536w, https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/carrusel-2.webp 2000w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Rewarding Swim at One of the Wildest Beaches in North of Mallorca</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After all the effort, the reward finally arrives. Taking off your hiking boots, leaving your backpack on a rock, and diving into the water feels like a well-earned prize.<br>The waters of Cala en Gossalba are crystal-clear and calm, perfect for swimming or snorkelling. If you arrive by boat, anchoring is easy thanks to the stable sandy and rocky seabed.<br>It’s one of the favourite spots for those seeking <strong>secluded beaches in north of Mallorca</strong> directly from the sea.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-kadence-image kb-image202_7f2598-3c size-large"><img data-dominant-color="7f7964" data-has-transparency="false" style="--dominant-color: #7f7964;" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="367" src="https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/carrusel-3-1024x367.jpg" alt="" class="kb-img wp-image-208 not-transparent" srcset="https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/carrusel-3-1024x367.jpg 1024w, https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/carrusel-3-300x108.jpg 300w, https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/carrusel-3-768x276.jpg 768w, https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/carrusel-3-1536x551.jpg 1536w, https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/carrusel-3.jpg 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Practical Tips for Visiting Cala en Gossalba</h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Best time to visit:</strong> spring or early autumn. Summer heat makes the hike much harder.</li>

<li><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f32c.png" alt="🌬" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> <strong>Winds:</strong> the cove is open to winds from the <strong>southeast</strong> to the <strong>southwest</strong> — always check the forecast before you go.</li>

<li><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/26f0.png" alt="⛰" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> <strong>The climb back:</strong> you’ll have to hike up those 200 metres again — save some energy!</li>

<li><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f697.png" alt="🚗" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> <strong>Transport:</strong> The best way to reach Cala en Gossalba is by car or motorbike, parking near Kilometre Point 15 on the Formentor Lighthouse road (<em>Carretera del Faro de Formentor</em>). Here are my personal recommendations for car and scooter rentals in Mallorca (<em>all tested by me as a mystery customer</em>).</li>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">When Do You Have to Pay Taxes as a Digital Nomad in Spain?</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This is the million-dollar question. The answer is simpler than you think: If you live in Mallorca more than <strong>183 days a year</strong>, you become a tax resident in Spain. That means you must declare all your income, from everywhere, to Hacienda.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">But it’s not just about counting days. You can also be a tax resident if:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Your family lives in Spain</li>

<li>Your main business operates from Spain</li>

<li>Most of your income is from Spain</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Types of Digital Nomad Taxes You Must Pay in Spain</h3>

<h6 class="wp-block-heading"><strong><em>No.1 Digital Nomad Taxes:</em> Spanish Income Tax (IRPF)</strong></h6>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This is the main tax we all pay on our income. As a digital nomad, how you pay depends on your work type:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>If you’re employed by a foreign company:</strong>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Declare as “employment income.”</li>

<li>You’ll pay <strong>19% to 47%</strong> depending on how much you earn.</li>

<li>Your foreign employer will <em>not</em> withhold Spanish taxes. You must pay them to Hacienda yourself.</li>

<li>Example: if a German company pays you <strong>€3,000/month net</strong> and you stay in Spain 183+ days, you must pay Spanish income tax at the end of the year.</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">
<p class="has-theme-palette-8-background-color has-background wp-block-paragraph"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f4a1.png" alt="💡" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> <em>Important tip:</em> If you plan to spend more than 6 months in Mallorca, save 25–30% of your monthly income to pay taxes. If you don’t, you might get a big tax bill you can’t pay.</p>
</blockquote>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>If you are self-employed (“autónomo”)</strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>If you are self-employed (“autónomo”)</strong>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>You must register as an <strong>autónomo</strong>.</li>

<li>You pay a monthly social-security autónomo fee (about <strong>€294/month</strong>).</li>

<li>You declare your income as <strong>business activity income</strong>.</li>

<li>You can deduct business expenses such as: coworking rent/home office (partially), internet and phone, computer equipment, software/tools, business travel, training, and professional insurance.</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>

<h6 class="wp-block-heading"><strong><em>No.2 Digital Nomad Taxes:</em> Wealth Tax (only if you have a lot of assets)</strong></h6>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">You only pay wealth tax if your net assets exceed €700,000. Most nomads do not reach this level, so you likely won’t worry about it.</p>

<h6 class="wp-block-heading"><strong><em>No.3 Digital Nomad Taxes:</em> VAT (IVA)</strong></h6>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you do business <strong>with Spanish companies</strong>, you must add <strong>21% VAT</strong> to your invoices. That 21% goes to Hacienda every quarter.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">How does the annual tax returns work for Digital Nomad Taxes?</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Every year, usually between April and June, you file the income tax return. Think of it as a summary of what you earned and spent.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Basic steps:</strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Gather all your income for the previous year.</li>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">You landed in Mallorca and fell head over heels for the gorgeous medieval old town. You&#8217;re having <em>jamón serrano</em> with tomato every morning (proper Spanish style!). You open Instagram and see your friends trying to post aesthetic photos in the pouring rain. Obviously, the thought of staying a bit longer in Mallorca crosses your mind&#8230; <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f4a5.png" alt="💥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /><strong>Boom!</strong><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f4a5.png" alt="💥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Everyone starts asking for your NIE. The worst bit? You haven&#8217;t got a clue what a NIE is or if you even have one (without knowing it).</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The bad news is that <strong>getting your NIE in Mallorca as a digital nomad</strong> is paperwork you simply can&#8217;t avoid, especially if you&#8217;re into the slow nomad life. The good news? I (Isabel Berga) will walk you through everything super easily, step by step, so Spanish bureaucracy doesn&#8217;t give you a proper headache.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What&#8217;s a NIE Then?</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The NIE (<em>Número de Identificación de Extranjero</em>) is basically like your Spanish ID card, but for foreigners. It&#8217;s a unique number that identifies you to Spanish authorities.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Why Do You Need a NIE When You Get to Mallorca?</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As a digital nomad, you need your NIE for:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Signing rental contracts</strong> for flats (without a NIE, you&#8217;re stuck living long-term in co-livings instead of finding your own place or a room in a shared flat)</li>

<li><strong>Buying a car or motorbike</strong> to get around the island</li>

<li><strong>Accessing medical services</strong> both public and private</li>

<li><strong>Setting up internet and utilities</strong> for your home</li>

<li><strong>Opening a Spanish bank account</strong> (dead important for receiving payments)</li>

<li><strong>Registering as self-employed</strong> if you&#8217;re going to invoice from Spain</li>

<li><strong>Filing your tax return</strong> if you earn money in Spain</li>
</ul>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="text-decoration:underline"><strong><strong>Basically, you don&#8217;t need a NIE if you&#8217;re only planning to stay in Mallorca for a few months, but your life will be proper complicated if you want to stay longer</strong></strong>.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-dominant-color="505152" data-has-transparency="false" style="--dominant-color: #505152;" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="598" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" src="https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/NIE-1024x598.png" alt="A guy bragging about sorting his NIE" class="wp-image-191 not-transparent" srcset="https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/NIE-1024x598.png 1024w, https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/NIE-300x175.png 300w, https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/NIE-768x448.png 768w, https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/NIE-1536x897.png 1536w, https://mallorcadigitalnomads.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/NIE-2048x1196.png 2048w" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/26a0.png" alt="⚠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> <strong>Important for Brits:</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Estimated time</strong>: 30-60 days from when you submit your application.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">For Latin American Citizens</h4>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Can a Local Agent Help You?</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Absolutely, and I personally recommend it!</strong> Spanish bureaucracy is long and slow. If you haven&#8217;t got the time or the process seems too complicated, a local agent does everything for you:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Saves you time</strong> and headaches </li>

<li><strong>Knows the process</strong> inside out </li>

<li><strong>Gets you appointments faster</strong> (sometimes they have special slots) </li>
